In the Fall of 2001, God led Linville Johnson,
Sr. Manager of the Religious Market Department of the Bahamas Tourist Office,
to contact Single Reaching Singles In Christ and invite them to the Bahamas
to help establish a Singles ministry there. Linville was our guest
at the 2001 Fall Retreat and then made arrangements for SRSIC leadership
to visit Grand Bahama Island in November to see the need and what they
had to offer.
In May 2002, the vision became reality as SRSIC took over
70 people from across the Southeast U.S. to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island.
The devil tried to thwart our plans and sidetrack our thoughts, but we
persisted. God confirmed His word in many ways as people were saved,
broken hearts were healed, emotional captives were freed, the disheartened
were encouraged, and one of our taxi drivers was among those who were saved.
We had teaching and instruction from Jeff Hidden (Mighty River Ministries),
Pastor David Wheeler (New Life Christian Fellowship, Jacksonville),
Ken Davis (Morningstar School), Dr. Susan Wallace (Access Ministries,
Freeport), Dr. J. C. Wallace (New Mount Olive Baptist Church, Freeport),
and our own singles who had "been there" in the storms that many of the
people faced.
